Show notes
In episode 15 of WordFed Life, Verlene Cromwell explores the transformative power of words and how they can be seasoned with grace to bring life and healing.
Anchored in Colossians 4:6, "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man," this episode reveals a profound truth about our words: they are seeds planted in the hearts of those who hear them.
Words are not just sounds; they carry influence.
They can uplift or tear down, inspire or discourage, heal or harm.
God calls us to speak with grace, ensuring our words leave people better than we found them.
Consider the impact of seasoning in food.
Without it, food may satisfy hunger but lacks delight.
Likewise, words without grace may convey truth but can be harsh and difficult to receive.
Paul instructs us to let our speech be seasoned with grace, enhancing the truth we share.
Grace does not diminish truth; it amplifies it, making it easier to accept.
Jesus exemplified this by speaking truth with compassion, correcting without humiliating, and restoring with love.
Our words should reflect this pattern.
When seasoned with grace, our words can:
- Bring healing to wounded hearts.
- Offer wisdom and direction.
- Inspire faith and hope.
- Spread peace and encouragement.
Before speaking, ask yourself:
Will these words build someone up?
Will they honor Christ?
Will they plant seeds of life?
Words are seeds, and every conversation plants something.
Let your words be worthy of the harvest you desire.
Point one.
Season your words with grace.
Gracious words strengthen relationships and leave lasting impressions.
Point number two.
Season your words with wisdom.
Wisdom guides us in knowing what to say and when to say it.
Point number three.
Season your words with healing.
God can use our words to bring restoration and hope.
Point number four.
Season your words with life.
Speak words that align with God's truth and produce a harvest of righteousness.
Let this declaration guide you:
"I declare that my mouth belongs to God.
My speech is seasoned with grace.
My words are guided by wisdom.
My words bring healing.
My words bring life.
I will not speak carelessly.
I will not plant fear, bitterness, or discouragement.
I will speak words that build.
I will speak words that encourage.
I will speak words that strengthen.
The Holy Spirit governs my tongue.
The word of God fills my heart.
And my words will produce a harvest that glorifies Jesus Christ."
